Secrets of Cain

When dedicated molecular geneticist Finn Griffin discovers a man’s hand wearing a gold ring inside the stomach of a fifteen thousand–year–old frozen saber–tooth cat, wonder turns to disbelief as DNA testing in Finn’s lab reveals it has two extra chromosomes indicating a new hominid. The tension mounts when fingerprint analysis delivers the explosive results showing the owner of the hand, is Jute Quinari, an a-mortal criminal… who is very much alive.

Minotaur’s Shadow

When ethically compelled genetic scientist, Finn Griffin exposes the Ivati a-mortal Signe Bengtsson’s sinister entertainment empire which traffics in the ultimate horror of humans betrayed by DNA and forced into live gaming events:

The Minotaur’s Shadow casts a darkness which could cost Finn his life  if not his soul.

What People Are Saying

“This is a hard story to describe. Wonderfully engaging characters, science (genetics) and fantasy (griffins and time-travelers) and a quick-moving plot. A wild ride to be sure. I continue to be amazed at the research this author did to bring so much reality to the tale and yet I sincerely enjoyed reading it as there was enough imagination brought to the plot to satisfy. I read 5 - 10 books a month and am pretty picky about what I spend my time with. I will read this book again and look forward to the next story in the series.”

“Excellent research of the geographic Seattle/Northwest area and of the possibility of populations to destroy the environment and our freedoms. All is combined with fantasy and scientific biological discoveries and an interesting and exciting plot. This is a great book for the imagination, for power struggles between good and evil. Would make a great movie. Could be like another Harry Potter series.”

— Serina Taub

“Anna Niris has given us another futuristic adventure. DNA scientist Finn Griffin must solve a new mystery caused by the renegade Ivati, who have no regard for humans or time. It’s a compelling story of friendship and trust.”

Anna Niris

I live under the "Blue Hole", a climate anomaly above a small community nestled in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains.  This gift from Mother Nature allows airline pilots to visually orient their location to the proximity of Seattle and Vancouver B.C.  It also allows for lots of sunshine! Well-it's a lot for us living in the wet Evergreen State.

I was raised in a military family and my childhood was spent in several foreign countries.  At the age of ten I spoke Italian and French.  Later in adult life I learned Mandarin and Japanese.

Because of my connection with foreign cultures I developed a fascination for world history, and the development of societies, including their myths and stories.  My favorite childhood book was King Arthur.  My favorite adult books in the world of fantasy authors are:   Ursula le Guin, R.A. MacAvoy. Anne McCaffrey and James Tiptree.

As a writer, I find great pleasure in unearthing morsels of genuine science which I combine in fictional puzzles.  The results bring to life a plot filled with human idiosyncrasies, including the "outside variable", which mucks up everything for the characters who act out their lives before me, on the sheets of white paper.

I'm an obsessive reader, story teller, artistic gardener and a serious dog-kibble cook.
